Best (workable) diagnostic/options cable to buy

Post by Ant » Mon May 26, 2014 11:41 am

I thought there was a few links on here for these but I could not find anything really relevant using 'search'

Ages ago I bought a cable from www.bcables.com (though I thought it was bmcables !! ) the thing has never been near my car as I cannot even get it to load onto my laptop, the little light on the cable does not even light up, and the supplier is f@@@ing useless and never replies to any emails.

I have had a little search on eBay and they all seem to be like the cable I already have so I don't really want to go down that route again. When I was originally looking at buying one I thought I remembered terms like 1.04.00 but I chose this other cable. now I regret that I thought I would try the other option but as stated I am struggling to remember the full details or any links to previous discussions.

So, what is the best, most useable (to a novice) diagnostic cable out there ? Would like to turn 'auto locking' on my car 'on' and check to see if all my ignition coils are working fully...

Cheers

Look for scanner 1.4.0.

You need XP for a lot if these things though, or a virtual machine.  Check for Windows 7 compatibility.  There are a number of threads in here covering it.

Cheers, I will re-search for scanner 1.4.0
I was on XP when that last cable proved useless, now I am on W7 so I will have to bear that in mind
