Sat Nav Help & Advice Please

Post by mark hamster 28 » Wed Jan 21, 2015 10:51 am

Morning all, as the title states, any help on this will be great.! About 4 months ago, when i was getting in the X5 the sat nav screen would say every now and then "DVD Error" or "Please Wait" This would not change untill you ejected the DVD and put it back in then everything all good. I took a few photo's every time it happened and went to BMW Derby and under warranty the replaced the bit where you stick the DVD in ??. A few days later problem still happening so in it went again and they then replaced whatever the bit mentioned above connects to behind it ?? So days later, yes you guessed its still happening so i called them again and they said all it can be is faulty DVD so they got me a brand new 2015 edition. Yes you guessed again it is still happening, did it both times yesterday when car used. Now i bought it as a approved BMW and its all under warranty and they do seem to keep chucking money at BUT getting a bit fed up now so when i called service guy who has delt with all this and to be fair has been really great, i said shall i come in and talk to a manager but he said he wanted to get this sorted for me and has now gone off to seek advice from there top tech.

So any idea's guys ?? I have more faith in you guys on here.

Also last few time car gone in, they have had it 4 or 5 days and to be fair loan great cars out BUT dont really want to be without my 4X4 now bad weather is here. So might say i want a like for like loan car this time but do you think i'm being cheeky  :D

I'm getting this error too

Did they actually replace the DVD drive as I've read the reader lens can wear?

So you've got a free 2015 disc, if you get another PM as would like to check if it helps my issue ;)

well car now been in garage for 3 days and bmw Derby rang today to ask me some questions that apparently the big boys at bmw have asked why trying to fix fault. They have found the battery is Knackered and are changing this F O C under warranty but they said this is nothing to do with sat nav error. I really dont think it ever will get fixed and i will just after live with every now and then ejecting dvd and re inserting ? Will give them credit and say they are trying hard.

reply to question, i dont think i will be getting any more new dvd's ( to be fair the 2015 is not much different to 2009) but if i do i will let you no and yes they have replaced the the whole unit celica.! This was the first thing they tied about 3 months ago.!

A friend just had a unit replaced in his e91 3 series which I think is very similar
But I think I would rather try the DVD laser reader replacement first
