Comfort access issue !

Post by mark09 » Sun Dec 14, 2014 7:18 pm

The Mrs called me whilst outside UK on business with a problem!

She keeps the car keys in her bag, and whilst getting the little one out the car, closed the door the car locked with the handbag inside the car inc the car keys! Plus phone, house keys etc. Completely stuck as the spare car key was in house and she had no keys to get in.

Anyway I phoned BMW assistance and was glad they could actually remotely unlock the doors within seconds. Amazing. Panic over [emoji6]

So, i thought the comfort access was programmed not to lock whilst the keys are inside the car! Anyone else had the same issue?

I have tried a couple of times to lock the car unsuccessfully until I realised I had left the keys sitting in the cup holder, so thankfully the Comfort Access has worked as expected although I did hear somewhere of a guy locking his keys in the boot of his M5 whilest on business in Germany.  So it obviously isn't completly fail safe.

Have tried locking the keys in the boot and the car and haven't been able too.  Im assuming it was probably the proximity to a mobile phone as if the key is in the same pocket as my phone it will often not work.

Probably the case as she would have the keys in a pocket inside her bag alongside her phone !

My Missus did this a few weeks ago on the driveway. Keys in the boot in her bag, shut the boot and the car locked. Fortunately I was inside the house with the spares!
