I plan on replacing my gearbox fluid and filter very soon and have been looking at the options for fluids. The code on my sump was 83220142516. My transmission unit is the ZF 6HP-26X (metal sump) and according to the ZF website, the tank capacity is 9.4 +/- 0.5 litre. It recommends only using ZF Lifeguard Fluid 6, which is available online for £15.60 litre.
However, on ebay I noticed this at a better price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-AUTO-GEAR ... 416799e1f5
Anyone used it or had any dealings with Ravenol?
For those of you that have done this drain and refill, how much did you manage to drain out?

Re: ZF 6HP-26X what transmission fluid?
I think the advice from most is likely to be to only use the gearbox manufacturers specified fluids. Given the potential for very expensive repairs of the order of £2k if you get a failure, using the right fluids is probably wiser.
As with all these things, taking a chance often works out just fine, but.........and Ravenol says it's high quality German Oil so you could be absolutely fine. They may even make the ZF spec fluid..
