Best tyres for uk monsoon conditions
Evening all
Had a "moment" hitting standing water on the motorway with 5mm plus Diamaris on all round , does anybody have a view on best tyres for wet weather on a E53 running standard 19" sport alloys?

Re: Best tyres for uk monsoon conditions
Well as I haven't got around to changing my winters yet, (255/55R18) I have to say they are doing brilliantly in the monsoon season
)
) As they are much narrower and softer than the ridiculous 20" rear skis (12" wide :'( :'( ) on the 4.8, the ride is much nicer and performance in adverse weather conditions a lot less frantic than aquaplaning on superwide 20" tyres! Just a pity the 18" wheels don't look as good as the 20's, but then again the X won't look good if its all smashed up on the central rservation having aquaplaned there on her 20" skis .......... :blink:

Skis?.......They're flotation buoys, and lethal in really wet weather! The X6 is just a scary!

Just put 4 new Michelins on mine.
I doubt any tyres on the 19 or 202 rims will be any good in deep water.

If the X is anything like my 997, 3mm or less on any tyre and you're skidding all ver the place in a light shower!

I think tbh it depends on how much water you hit. 5mm depth should be ok with moderate water but if quite a bit of standing water then it's more down to tyre size on the X's really. Could try driving slower...lol

Hmm was pressing on a bit ...just didn't expect such a monumental step sideways , guess it was just the drought conditions hitting home..
I'll stick to the Michelins then if no one can recommend a better Drought tyre
