Was fiddling with the heater controls yesterday and had set them on 22c but no heat came out. Used diagnostics and found that the heater valves didn’t open to 25c however the interior temperature was showing as 23c. Is the opening temperature somehow linked be module/computer as to what temperature the valves will open. Only had the X for 10 years and never came across this. When the valves did open heat came out.

Have you vacuumed out the interior temp sensor slots on the climate control panel? If they are full of dust you can get dodgy readings.

I did on my old E39... Talking of climate control - over the last few weeks my blower fan has been cycling up and down. I think the hedgehog might be playing up so I've go a used original off ebay to try out. I do have two new ones in the garage but they are aftermarket and I know one of them is faulty but not sure which one.
Strange though as it only happenedbwhen the outside temperature was really high like the other week. I think it's forecast to be hot again so this will be test time.

I had a problem with the hedgehog can’t even remember if it was the x5 or Alpina where it worked fine then stopped went up and down in fan speed. Bought a new one, same problem. I read on here about squeezing the plug pin contact points. Haven’t had a problem since so I assume the hedgehog I took out is still ok. I keep it as a spare.
