E70 front number plate holder UK version

Hey folks. Does anyone know if the number plate holder is removable without messing with the number. Got the log book back with my private reg, but when I went to put my short number plates on there was numerous holes behind the old plate, annoyingly at the ends. A nice fresh one would be ideal. Any help appreciated.
