Two days after fixing the engine cutting out problem up pops the fail safe warning and other lights. Engine continues to run but surges and lacks power. Switching off fixed for 20 meters then returned. Diagnostics tells me that the fault is potentiometer 1 and 2 in the throttle pedal. So took the pedal off ( 30 second job) and removed the electrical connection and sprayed electrical cleaner. Didn’t help so sent for a second hand one from a national scrapper £44. Meanwhile started looking on internet at what else might be contributing to the fault. Came across one of these magic fixes which says:-
Disconnect battery for 5 minutes, to difficult to remove LPG tank so took pedal off again and disconnected the electrical connection. Cup of tea later put it back together and switch on ignition. Press pedal to floor over a 4 second period. Release over a 4 second period. Switch off ignition. This will apparently reprogram/realign/reset the throttle. Yea right. Start up, and everything is perfect obviously haven’t done many miles but will report if it packs up again. New pedal due tomorrow so will bung it in the boot as you could change on the side of the road in 30 seconds.
