LCI steering wheel switches
The headlights are swappable for driving on the Continent. Dealer did it yesterday and didn’t charge me. The local techies have found a way to do it without needing Orangutan length arms and small hands. They have an ‘unofficial’ tool of some sort. I didn’t really want to put masks on the front of ...

CIC with Combox instead of TCU (telematics) was from October 2010. Paddle controls on mine are both moving in either direction rather than one up and the other down. I don’t think BMW changed that until the E71 became the F16 (but may be wrong) in 2013 or so. It never got the LED angel eyes either ...

LCI steering wheel switches
I can’t reassign any buttons. They are ‘fixed’ and as per my comment. The top picture is the one I’m referencing. The inner pair are Entertainment source (upper) and air recirc (lower). My X6 was amongst the first of the later CIC (rather than CCC) cars. The later ones have more buttons on the ...

If you mean on the upper image then the upper button changes the entertainment source and the bottom is air recirculation mode. My manual doesn’t list the buttons on the lower piccie. Whether they will work I can’t say. They’ll do something, but maybe only what is already there rather than something ...

They are shown as being one either side and behind the trim panel below the two fog lights.
In the past I have used an in line fuse to a relay +ve with a line to ground. The ‘trigger wire’ is tapped into whatever it is you want triggered (horn, lights etc) and the relay ‘out’ then goes to the ...

Could be any of: Gas loss, pressure switch, or magnetic coupling failing on the compressor.
These are the usual culprits on the other X’s on this forum.

Car has a secret..
There’s no mention of a reluctor ring, but the fault manual suggests faulty wheel bearings as a potential cause - along with bad pulse generators (the sensors) or bad wiring. It also suggests something called a pulse gear, but I can’t find one in Realoem.

F85 - engine cover
At a guess, have a look at the underside of the engine cover to see if there are a number of ball-shaped protrusions sticking downwards. There should be a corresponding rubber grommet in a metal mount around the engine / accessories.

There is a tilt sensor for the alarm system, but nothing specifically mentioned as a rollover detector. The stability controller has a yaw/pitch/roll sensor however I think it is looking a rate of change rather than a specific angle.

If it is under the dash then it may be above the pedal box (looking straight up I think)

The SOS alarm is a code reset according to the manual. Read out and delete. The code will be generated by the telephone control unit.
I’m not sure if the 3G switch off is affecting as the system should be clever enough to look for a 2G signal if it can’t find a 3G one.

If it didn’t have self-levelling there would be a headlight aim control thumb wheel on the light switch in addition to the instrument lights dimmer.

There may also be antennas in each wheel well behind the arch liners.
There is an antenna module (B46a) underneath as well.
