Last year my insurance was £1000, the renual came up and it was £1300 so then went on all the comparison sites and got a quote with my own company that came up at £800, I'm 26 have a named driver of 23 and mother on for good measure, does this seem like a fair price? I also tried direct line who let me fill out the entire thing only to turn around and say the policy would not be valid without a tracker  , I also come under a TS postcode which is one of the worst in the country for car insurance :( does this price seem fair, I was semi happy with it.

Hi I would say 800 is not bad, I'm a lot older and have my wife on and with 9 trs no claims max best I could do was avila at 400 but they wouldnt cover the car I was selling so we ended going with existing company at 700 but the other car is covered but has a tracker.

Recently on another car the ins co didn't allow anyone under 25 to drive it as it was a powerful car! so it may be worth trying it without the named 23yr old driver to see if any better if you can afford not to have them on policy, also if you don't use the car much you coul look at a mileage restriction say 6000 a year. But worth shopping around

Hope that helps

Mine was over £800 for the wife and me both in our 40,s but we have no no claims due to not having a second car for a while.
But I could have insured a Derv for £700, these prices were as of 4 weeks ago when I got the car.

DH1 post code to poss a better risk that a TS?

Rich...

I live in Durham but have a TS postcode so I would say that is a good price at your age. Mine is £500 which includes a claim last year when the car was stolen/recovered. (Thats what comes of living near Teeside)

Sounds about average to me too unfortunately... :(

I'm paying just under £600 now. The only way I can keep my policy prices down is to have tracking type systems and take a larger excess...

Last week's Auto Express had the 'average' policy now costing over £1,200, and built into that is a £90 cost for whiplash claims from Ambulance Chasers!

You make it sound like all of the TS postcodes are bad ? I too live in a TS postcode & just renewed ours with Wife as main driver, no tracker, protected no claims & car on drive for £299.

Quote doesn't sound too bad all variables/circumstances considered.

Dread to think what my renewal will be.

Out of interest, who are you with as that is seriously cheap insurance.

My renewal can through today for £487 with a CR postcode. I'm in my 40's as is hubby and I have 3 points with over 10 years no claims. I'm happy as it was £600+ last year so has come down for me.

I used 3 comparison sites but going straight to my own provide (swift) came up the cheapest.

I can't remember where I read it but TS codes were second only to whatever hull ones are in terms of car crime statistics!

We've just insured our 3.0d, Me 41 and Mrs Boss 37. £326! Bargain! Thats sleepy Devon for you, but Torquay is quite high risk for down here. And we claimed for two mirrors last year, large camper van forced me into a hedge in a lane! Elephant wanted £580 to renew, so went for the comparison sites, and got cracking deal.

Hi, been with Elephant for a couple of years now. Renewal came through at £476 but quick scan on comparison sites came back with £296.74 so Wife rang Elephant & they agreed to match it ( they said the other insurer was part of the same group as well ? )
We're both 45 & have made no claims.
Definately worth spending time shopping around.

Mine was about 280 ish with SAGA :D and no asking how old I am as its rude to ask a ladies age ;) 2 of us both in SAGA target age and over 10 years no claims bonus for both, no points ......... Iasked them if it was the best they could do  as it was expensive and they said they thought the engine size made it more expensive

Condor - you know you are not supposed to add the ages up to get to the Saga age limit though, with you being 25 and so :poke:
