BMW to introduce RTTI from September

Post by X5Sport » Wed Aug 17, 2011 9:57 am

I had an email from BMW saying that they were introducing Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) to replace TMC from September 2011. The wording of the mail left it rather ambiguous as to what kit other than Professional Nav (iDrive type), Bluetooth Prep, a valid Assist sub was required as it said 'depends on age and options fitted'.

Having asked BMW GB, it appears it will only work on BMW cars with the requisite kit AND built after Week 36 of 2011 (3rd Sept onwards). Why they could not say - "Only works on new cars built after...." I don't know. It cannot be retrofitted either!!

The system provides colour coding on roads to show where the issues are. BMW are to stop using TMC in new cars after Week 36, but there's no information on them stopping supporting it on existing models.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
