I'm just ordering the new gasket as I believe I have quite a bad leak from the oil filter housing (it is the highest point on the engine I can see oil. Underneath the car has oil all over the sump pan, hoses etc and cleaning it off hasn't really helped pin point it so I'm going with the ofh first. While I'm in there is there anything else you would change?
Thanks

Is it the "O" ring on the filter cap.
Make sure it is in the correct place in the groove about half an inch from the top.
Worth undoing and checking easy to do and i have seen them at the top and some leak and some don't.

Hi Alan, it's not the filter cap. The actual housing part is dry, it is the ribbed part of the engine block that has the oil on it where the housing meets. Thanks for the suggestion

No, just the hatched style casting area on the block. I can't get a picture as there is so much stuff in the way under the inlet manifold.
I'm going to give the car a full service w[hile I'm at it and so far have
Oil filter
Air filter
Cabin filter
Pollen filter
Oil
Spark plugs
Ccv and all 4 pipes
Do people think it is worth changing the diff / gearbox oil filter and fuel filter etc or not? The car is running perfect except the oil leak and has 127k on the clock. It is a 3.0 petrol 2005.

Worth changing the serpentine belt with that mileage.....if not already done in its service history.
