Thanks guy's I appreasiated you get back to me, however how can I get this confirmed as a replacement/repaired transfer box is not cheap and to replace it with out knowing 100% is a major expense, I'm more than happy to replace it if I know this is the problem, my local BMW specialist really does ...

Hi thanks for getting back to me, when the car was in the garage they did a full diagnostic and it didn't identify any issues with the transfer box/gearbox only that code?
I know the earlier X3 suffered problem's with transfer box issues especially when using wrong tyres and with off set tyres but ...
